Commercial Network Upgrade and Deployment for TOYOGO Bedok

Project Overview

In this project for TOYOGO Bedok, the branch's network and infrastructure required a significant refresh due to dated equipment. The scope involved upgrading the network to enhance performance and ensure future scalability.

As this project was broken down into phases, we began with Phase 1, focusing on upgrading the branch shop/office infrastructure, while laying the groundwork for future phases to strengthen the entire enterprise’s infrastructure.

Project Details

Router Upgrade with VPN Tunnel Capabilities

We upgraded the existing router to a modern, non-consumer secured firewall appliance. This upgrade ensures secure communication between TOYOGO Bedok’s branch and their main office HQ, offering a reliable connection for remote access.

Wi-Fi Coverage for Product Aisles

We enhanced Wi-Fi coverage across the shop's product aisles, ensuring stable and strong connections for staff and customers throughout the store. This improvement helps with point-of-sale systems, customer browsing, and seamless staff operations.

Wi-Fi for Staff and Guest Access

Separate Wi-Fi networks were set up for staff and guest access. This separation ensures a secure corporate network while providing guests with internet access, reducing the risk of unauthorized access to sensitive business systems.

VLAN Setup for Corporate and Guest Networks

To enhance security and network efficiency, we set up different VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks) for corporate and guest users. This segmentation ensures that sensitive data is kept secure, while guests can access the internet without compromising corporate resources.

PoE Switch Setup

We deployed a Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch, allowing both data and power to be delivered over a single cable to devices such as IP cameras, access points, and VoIP phones. This simplified the installation process and reduced the need for additional power outlets.

Temporary Server Deployment Using Existing Desktop

A temporary server was deployed using TOYOGO's existing desktop. This server acts as a hypervisor to support virtual machines (VMs) for current operations. It provides an interim solution while the overall infrastructure upgrade is planned in phases.

Hypervisor Setup with Periodic Snapshots and Backups

The hypervisor was set up to take periodic snapshots and backups, ensuring that data is regularly saved and protected. This setup provides a safeguard in case of system failure, minimizing downtime and ensuring business continuity.

Collaboration with TOYOGO Vendor on Software Installation

We worked with TOYOGO's software vendor to ensure smooth installation and integration of the necessary software on the newly deployed systems.

Site-to-Site VPN Tunnel Setup for Main Office HQ

To ensure secure communication between the shop and the main office, we prepared TOYOGO Bedok's network for a site-to-site VPN tunnel. This tunnel will connect the remote location to the corporate network, allowing for secure file sharing, remote access, and central management of systems.

Consultation on Likely Software Usage

We offered consultation on the software applications TOYOGO is likely to use in the future, helping to ensure that the infrastructure is aligned with their specific needs and supporting the tools and platforms that drive their operations.
